Stopped at Amby and chatted to this 85 yr old who looks after the park....has had the job for 13 yrs...lived all his life in Amby.....area used to be an inland sea...floods approx every 20 yrs when the two creeks meet with water coming out of the hills...water reaches up to the steps he's sitting on....hard to imagine!!!
Onto Mitchell...river floods here in 2012... note height of flood and look at the river now!!
Set up....time for a dip in artesian baths...38.6 degrees...warm...big complex with hall out back!
Set up in foyer....
5 pubs in town .... 3 still serving....amazing for a population of around 1300 !!
Bottle tree line the streets....off to the camp oven dinner at the park...$15 per head...beef stew or curry...home made bread and apple streusel!!! Perfect!!
