A DAY IN ROMA....

After Buck cooked breakfast and we set out in the morning sun to enjoy it and took off down to the shops to replenish our stores!!
Along the street as I mentioned there are ,what I thought were Boabs but are actually Australian Bottle trees...different species!! They live for about 200yrs and there are 90 trees planted and form the Roma War Memorial Heroes Avenue....each tree has a plaque depicting a soldiers name and when he died from the First World War. The first tree was planted in 1918 to commemorate the death of a local soldier Lt Cpl Norman Saunders killed in France in 1916. 93 local men fell in the 1st World War!

Next stop on our way back carrying our groceries we were told to have a look at Ace Drapers....iconic store in Roma...absolutely full to the brim....even spewing out into the footpath in boxes....it has everything you need for sewing etc plus clothes and household items!!!!

Haven't seen one of these sewing cases in ages....must have been at least 50 of them stacked up....an overkill on stock....imagine doing the stocktake!!! I knew I'd buy something so I chose some fun fabric with retro caravans on it to make a tablecloth for the van!!!!

Gorgeous old Queenslander with bottle trees out front!!!

One of my favourite birds! Up town for dinner tonight then onto Mitchell tomorrow......just over 80kms away....such a long distance!!!!
