OUT WEST WE GO ........

TUESDAY AUGUST 1st...
Left the Rivershore Resort in Diddillibah....(say that with you mouth full) on the Sunshine Coast!
Entered onto the Bruce Hwy and ,ooops a 2 car collision up ahead which meant travelling snails pace for 5 km....finally off on Exit 188B towards the Glass House Mountains....skirted around them and came to Beerwah...beautiful country side...horse ranches and lush vegetation...a windy road running not far from the Blackhall Ranges but very manageable with the van in tow!!
Glass House Mountains through the trees!

We couldn't stop on the busy road to get a clear shot...bummer!

House nestled in the trees!!

Arrived in Kilcoy and decided to have a cuppa at Yowie Park...these little towns always have a great picnic area to pull up in with your van!

Kilcoy is situated on the joining of the Stanley and Brisbane Rivers. It has a rich aboriginal culture.. Jinibara People.

It was originally called Hopetown after Captain Louis Hope in 1841..... but along came brothers Evan and Colin Mackenzie from a Scotland ....took up sheep farming and renamed it Kilcoy after their hometown!!
A huge timber industry developed and became stronger in 19113 when the railway line came to town!
Somerset Dam was constructed in 1935-1959 as the Second World War suspended construction! The dam created jobs and on 1953 Kilcoy Pastoral Company established the meat works and has steadily increased production to what it is today!!
I called into the local butcher and got some lovely grass fed meat! I also commented on the overnight camp for caravanning as I noticed it had lovely showers and toilets.., he said it used to have power and an honesty box but typical...people abuse it staying to long so the council cut off the power....we have some bludgers in this country!!!

Free camping area!

Nice old pub..The Exchange...

Main Street....Kilcoy

Back on the road and D'Arguilian Hwy towards Yarraman ,passing through Moore and Blackbutton the New England through Cooyar ...then onto Dalby on one of the worst roads..... very bumpy!!!!!
